Sugarcane & Carnival

Two Sundays ago we were in Danao, an hour ride from Cebu City, for the city fiesta at Moy's cousin's turf. We also did an impromptu shoot for his cousin's engagement photos. They were to be wed Thursday of the same week so it had to be done right away on that same day.
We braved the tormenting hot weather and did some shots at the vast sugarcane fields near the house.
And because it was the city fiesta the celebration wouldn't be complete without the traditional Filipino karnabal or perya (in English and sosyal term: carnival LOL). So we decided to extend the shoot at the full-packed carnival in the plaza. We did some shots at the Horror boothBingo game area, and the itsa-itsa. The itsa-itsa (okey i made that term up coz i don't know what it's officially called. Itsa is a Cebuano word for "throw")  is a game wherein you throw 25 cent coin from a distance into a large table with small marked squares and when you successfully manage to land your coin within the perimeter of a small square, you get a corresponding prize like a PhP 1 or a snack or a Tanduay lapad. Don't laugh it's my favorite carnival game when I was a kid. That and Bingo and that dice game called gulong-gulong.
We were supposed to wrap up the shoot with a ferris wheel ride but discarded the idea because his cousin is afraid of heights. Good thing coz I would have embarrassed myself if we pushed through with it because the last time I rode a ferris wheel was when I was 8 and my mom had to shout at the operator to shut it down coz I felt really sick and was puking all over her skirt when we were right at the very top. Hahaha

Striped top - thrifted
Yellow skirt - thrifted
Lace-up sandals - people r people
Straw hat - Gaisano Countrymall
Sunnies - Mongkok night market

Hi Dred!

Thanks for visiting my blog! I remember going to a carnival at The Fort some time ago.. I rode their ferris wheel, which was bigger than Enchanted Kingdom's, after riding a roller coaster. I was so sick I had to go to their medics' station and they just gave me a Maxx candy! Hahaha!
