Walking through the cobblestone street of Old Vigan is such a wonderful experience for a history buff like me. It's amazing how the people of Vigan have preserved their heritage. Even the guards in the area look like Spanish guardia civils in their uniforms. Modern fast food chains are also obliged (i think) to mimic their facade to the old Spanish era structures.
The calesa ride is a great way to get around the city's numerous historical places like museums and jar factories and take note they are not overpriced. A calesa which seats up to three people costs only PhP150/hour ($3/hour). And museums charge a minimum of PhP10 pesos only. The Baluarte, the vast land converted into an African Safari park by the owner Gov. Chavit Singson, takes tourists and visitors for free.
Kudos to the heritage administration people for a job well done.
