Last sunday we had a pre-debut shoot at Beverly Hills Lahug and Busay. The debutante is every photographer's dream; very charming, gorgeous, and very natural in front of the camera. She's so cute she looks no more than a 15-year old kid. Yeah I called her kid, I feel so old already. hahaha
The skies were kind of gloomy so we were amazed at how great the pictures turned out considering the boyfriend and his friend shot it using available light.

I guess it's every normal budding teenager's dream to celebrate her 18th birthday like a fairy tale; to be introduced to the society while walking down a grand staircase and wowing the guests with one's regal ball gown and perfectly made-up face.
I never had that ten years ago (yeah you do the math)
because a) my family couldn't afford it  and b) even if we could afford it, i wouldn't have enjoyed it because i get conscious when people ogle at me.
Instead, I celebrated it with a simple pool party with my closest high school best friends.

How about you lovelies, how did you celebrate your 18th-year milestone into womanhood? :)

By the way, here are samples of the pics. For more of the photos, you can check them HERE at MarlonCapuyanPhotography

We finally got the camera we've been drooling over for almost a year. It's a Polaroid Pogo. :)
We've since been in love with the old school Polaroid and it's vintage output especially with its hazy and saturated effects. Too bad they have stopped producing  it and the paper. Polaroid savvies must have hoarded them coz we can't find any more paper on the net and if there is any the price is way over the top.
The effects of the digital Pogo is just similar with the original. Plus I can store jpeg files which makes it easier to share and upload.
And oh we have picked a name for her already. The boyfriend and I have a tradition of naming the things close to our heart.
Our car is named Simone.
Our laptop, Dominique.
Our SLR, Rufus
And our pogo, she's Penelope. :)
hahahaha

Notice the "our". Everything we have is conjugal. Even if he invested more in them. It's just rightful coz he earns more than I do. LOL

So here's the test we did last Saturday. I still have a lot to learn. :)

I used to be a bookworm in high school reading anything from Sweet Valley High / University, Love Stories, Hardy Boys, Archie (does that count? lol) down to the Encyclopedia and anything History-related (yeah i love History so much!). But lost touch of my bookwormish self during college the time when the internet was spreading like wildfire.
Now I'm rekindling my passion for books after i found this tattered, with pages already yellow and brittle, The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand, when I was cleaning our book shelf. We had this since like forever but never really got interested because of its shabby appearance. Now I know why one shouldn't judge a book by its cover. It turned out to be so good I couldn't put it down and has been the reason why I skipped meals, has foregone web surfing, and snubbing the boyfriend during our beach trip last weekend. hahahaha
Anyone care to suggest books that are worth reading? I'm looking out for my next read. The last book I read was Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows so it's really been ages ago already.

Peachy

Lately I've developed a habit of hiding my thrift shop purchases from my mother because she doesn't truly get it why I have to have a lot of clothes and shoes more than I can wear. Probably it irritates her to have a lot more dresses to alter in the sewing machine, more clothes to wash and a lot more to organize in the closet. Because quite frankly I am notorious in the house for being too disorganized (per my own mother). Although I'd like to call it an organized chaos.
If there's someone in the house who understands my love for clothes it would have to be my father. He's a clothes-freak like me and I love to scour at his closet once in a while (or probably every chance I can get) when he isn't looking and steal some of his shirts, belts, and leather bags. Hahaha
Take for example this peach shirt and leather belt. He has forgotten of its existence (probably because it got lost in his multitude of shirts)until he saw me wearing it.

And for those who asked about the lens I used during the HK trip, it was a Tamron 17-50 mm f2.8 lens.
And my boss took all the photos with the ones with me on it.:)
