Photos: Mom :)

This is what happens when you are running late for work and you just grab the first thing in your closet that catches your attention. In this case, the cobalt pants and orange jacket. I tend to dress up in colorful outfits when I'm stressed out. They are an instant mood-lifter. Blue and orange are a gorgoeus combo after all.
Although I was about to type blue and orange are not complementary colors but did a double take and consulted google. And hey, they complement each other after all! I didn't know that. haha Must be because I'm not a  big fan of orange. But this jacket is an exception. I fell in love with it the moment I saw it on my friend's website.

"Recycled fashion" aka thrifted clothes is one of the ways to help Mother Earth. Think of all the trees and the energy exhausted in processing a batch of clothing. Don't get me wrong I am not preaching against people who are addicted to brand new clothes.  I'm just trying to justify my overindulgence to thrifting. haha

I am such an addict that my heart flutters at the sight of hangered clothes at an "ukay" shop or even those that are piled sloppily at the sidewalk. Boyfriend almost always have to whisk me away from the area coz once I get inside there is no stopping me. haha

Please excuse the limp hair, took these just minutes after I took a shower. :)

{ WEEKLY THING }

Photobucket

It's no secret that apart from dressing up, photography is something I am really passionate about. I love to take photos and the vain in me also loves to be on the photos. I don't lug a heavy DSLR everyday so a cellphone will suffice for all my shutter cravings. And getting a phone that allows me to shoot even the most mundane of things has been one of the better decisions I made last month.
So here's a round-up of what I did with the week that was.

- The boyf switched to Canon 5D Mark II. But i will still be shooting with Nikon.
- Planning to buy more colorful shoes. I seriously lack blue shoes to complete the primary colors. Oh wait, I have blue. No need to buy. {Boyfriend must be doing the happy dance now}
- I love quesadillas. I have to eat them at least once a week to keep me alive.
- I have been praying a lot lately. For my dad's health. God knows I never prayed to become rich. My prayers are always centered on me and my loved ones' health and safety. And world peace.
- Planning to do my first DIY necklace using those scrap black circular things. I am on a hunt for a cute wire to stitch them together.
- First week of the lifting of uniform policy and i'm obviously elated.
- Staying true to my resolution to update my blog as often as i can.
- Boyfriend added another shirt to his growing rock-shirt collection.
- Rekindled my love for red nails.
- Realized that my "pambahay" dress is  a perfect mix of paisley, electric pleats, and bohemian midi skirt. I have to stop wearing it as a pambahay and give it some outdoor love.

Planning to make this a weekly thing. Thank you for reading all my blabberings.

Happy Sunday! :)

{ TRAVEL PHOTO DIARY: GIBITNGIL ISLAND }

The most unplanned of trips could turn out to be the most fun and nerve wracking experience!!!

The four of us got together for a few drinks on the eve of Sunday and our conversation eventually circled around the unchartered island of Gibitngil in Medellin. Then a little over 4 a.m. we found ourselves taking the first bus bound for Medellin. Because we were armed with the littlest information about our destination, we were faced with a situation on where to get off the bus and how to get to the island. We found out from the locals of Kawit that the only way to get there was to reserve a motorized banca form the local government. Alas it was Sunday; a no-office day! Although we happen to find one at the port with a group of people bound to the island but they were too HEARTLESS to offer us a ride. My God we didn't even look like psychopaths to be rejected like that. So that was a minor glitch in our NO-PLAN plan.  Good thing there was a local fisherman who was kind enough to look for a banca. After about an hour of being stranded we were finally seated or much like cramped up in a small fishing boat en route to Gibitngil.

Glitch number two was our flaw to bring with us lunch. Gibitngil is a fishing village without the amenities of a first class resort. The local government is still on the process of developing the place as a tourist destination so the beauty of the place is still raw.  Give it a few years and I think Gibitngil has the potential to be the new tourist destination of the north. I would have really wanted to visit this beautiful sandbar which I heard was located on the other side of the island but we were already faced with the situation of going home because the heavy clouds were already acting up.

The greatest and probably the scariest adventure was our boat ride home. I honestly thought we were going to die. I've seen wild waves in Malapascua but this one is different. Our boat was too small for the rowdy waves plus the heavy downpour made it even worse I thought we were going to capsize and get lost in the middle of the ocean. I mean I know how to swim but God I'm afraid of sharks. Although there's less chance that the place is infested with sharks but still I'm paranoid like that. What was supposedly a 15-minute trip turned out to be a quarter less of an hour. But I'm glad we survived the ordeal.

Surely this spur of the moment trip was one for the books!

{ HYDROPHILIC -  having a strong affinity for water (particularly beach water; readily interact with water }

- Dred Reveries is hydrophilic. Hydrophilic is Dred Reveries.
- Because I'm addicted to the beach, i used to name my multiply and chictopia account Haidrofilik.
- The beach is one of the reason why I am not fond of skin whitening. I'm happy with my summer skin, thank you.
- The beach is my go-to place when I'm stressed out.
- I can withstand the glaring heat of the sun in the beach the whole day but can't last under it even for a minute when I'm in the city.

{ OFF DUTY G.I. JANE }

You may have noticed by now my erratic style of dressing. One day I'm all dressed up in a corporate attire and the other dressed down and edgy. My work entails dealing with various government agencies and because of that I have to conform with the normally "normal" way of dressing up. Hence, boots are a no-no. Only  pumps and normal-looking heels. Classic dresses and blazers are the way to go too.
But come weekends, I can be whatever I wanna be. I can dress up according to my mood. It's not that I don't like my choice of clothes during work days, but I just hate the rules that goes with it.
For this outfit, I was inspired by the model off-duty streetstyle look. I've always been partial to military pieces so I added this jacket to toughen up the basic short-shirt combo. And to veer away from the normal shoes, I opted for this leopard booties.
I'm sure the conservative people from work who sees me in this kind outfit would surely get shocked but what the heck, my world does not revolve around my work. I am entitled to be "me".
